Strong Kinetic-Inductance Kerr Nonlinearity with Titanium Nitride Nanowires

The kinetic inductance of charge carriers in disordered superconductors provides a broadband low-loss source nonlinear electromagnetic response. This work investigates TiN nanowires as an alternative to Josephson junctions for applications involving elevated temperatures, higher frequencies, and strong magnetic fields. An extreme nanowire geometry microwave resonators leads current-density concentration enhanced self-Kerr coefficient, yielding nonlinearity-to-loss ratio high 21% quality factor exceeding 10,000. Such devices may find application quantum frequency conversion photons, with improvement might attain nonlinearity.

We present a scheme for the quantum teleportation of the polarization state of a photon employing a cross-Kerr medium.
